Orlando Sex Crimes Defense Lawyer

A sex-crime accusation can cost you your job, your home and your name before a case ever reaches court — and a conviction for many of these offenses brings sex-offender registration. Early, careful defense matters more here than almost anywhere.

Chad Seibel prosecuted cases in the Ninth Judicial Circuit, which covers Orange and Osceola County, from 2013 to 2016. He now defends people accused of sex offenses in Orlando and across Florida. Every consultation is confidential.

If you have been contacted by detectives

Do not agree to an interview, a "controlled" phone call or a polygraph without a lawyer. Many sex-crime cases are built on statements made before an arrest. Saying "I want a lawyer" and stopping is your right.

If you have already been arrested

In Orange County you will usually be taken to the Booking and Release Center and see a judge within 24 hours at first appearance. Sex-offense charges often bring strict release conditions — no contact with the accuser or with minors. A lawyer at or before first appearance can address those conditions. Looking up an Orange County case

The Orange County Clerk of Courts runs a free online system called my eCLERK. It lets the public search and view many court records at no charge, criminal cases included, and a name search needs both a first and last name. The Clerk says online documents are available from 2009 to the present for most case types. Looking up the case number, the charges and the next court date is a sensible first step before a consultation.

Pretrial release supervision

When a judge releases someone with conditions, Orange County Corrections' Community Corrections Division may supervise them through its Pretrial Release program. A Pretrial Release Officer works with the defendant until the case is resolved to make sure they understand and follow the court's conditions. A violation of those conditions can lead to re-arrest, so it is worth being clear about every condition from the first day.

Frequently asked questions

Will I have to register as a sex offender?
It depends on the specific offense and outcome. Registration under Florida law applies to many, but not all, sex-offense convictions, and the details of a plea can matter. This is one of the first questions to review with a lawyer.

The accusation is false. Do I still need a lawyer?
Yes. False accusations are still investigated and charged, and what you say early on can be used against you.

Is the consultation confidential?
Yes. What you tell a lawyer in a consultation is confidential.

What happens if I'm released with conditions?
In Orange County, people released with conditions may be supervised by a Pretrial Release Officer with Orange County Corrections until the case ends. Following every condition — especially no-contact orders — matters.
