About Don Waggoner
I am a sole practitioner. I represent only persons charged with crimes in the States of Florida and Texas, and in the Middle District Federal Court in Florida. My practice is located in Kissimmee, Florida. I practice at the trial level only. I am a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Central Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the American Bar Association.
I was born in San Angelo, Texas in 1951 and graduated from Central High School there in 1969. I joined the U.S. Army in 1971 and spent 20 years in the Field Artillery as a howitzer section chief, and a forward observer/liaison officer. I also was a drill sergeant at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. I have served at Ft. Hood, Texas, Ft. Ord. California, Korea, Germany, and Panama. I graduated from the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California. I am conversant in German. I retired as a Staff Sergeant from the Army in 1991. I am married, have 3 grown children, a stepson, and six grandchildren. I like to snow ski, golf, and scuba dive.
I received my Bachelor of Arts from Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma in 1991. I began law school later that year at Nova University Law School in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. I received my Juris Doctor from Nova in 1993.
In March of 1994 I began work as an assistant public defender with the 9th Judicial Circuit located in Orlando, Florida. I was assigned to its office in Kissimmee, Osceola County, Florida. I was with the office until December 31, 2004, when I went into private practice.
I have been lead counsel in DUI trials, misdemeanor trials of all types, both misdemeanor and felony domestic violence trials, capital sexual battery trials, lewd act trials, capital murder trials, vehicular homicide trials, drug trafficking trials, and numerous other felony trials, for a total of more than 135 trials tried to a jury verdict.
I have served as a senior felony attorney for the Public Defender for the last 6 years.
I am a very skilled negotiator and have a reputation for being very tenacious and for getting the results my clients desire.
I have earned the respect of the assistant state's attorneys that I have had the pleasure of working with as my opponents in court and that means better results for my clients.
